Soi Cowboy

Soi Cowboy is one of Bangkok’s redlight districts. It is placed nearby the Asoke Road and Sukhumvit Road crossroad, parallel to Sukhumvit Road. The 400 meter long street between Asoke Road and Sukhumvit Soi 23 is a bustle area with multitude go-go bars good for a beer and watching skimpy dressed Thai girls.

There are about 40 go-go bars along the street with scantily clad women doing their business. Happy-go-lucky men mostly foreigners, either expats or coming for a vacation in Thailand frequents this place.

"Soi Cowboy" was named after the late T.G. "Cowboy" Edwards (a retired African-American airman) by Bernard Trink, a longtime nightlife columnist. T.G. Cowboy Edwards was one of the first business-men who opened a bar in that area. Trink gave the name "Cowboy" because he noticed that Edwards often wore a cowboy hat.
