Vimanmek Mansion

castle thailand packagetour traveler vacation hotel cheaphotel tour

Not far from the Dusit Zoo, in the Dusit Palace, there is the Vimanmek Mansion, also referred to as Vimanmek Palace, which used to house the King in the past. Originally constructed in 1900, owing to King Rama V, it was later taken apart and re-erected in Dusit Garden. It was completed in 1901 and was destined for serving as King Rama V’s apartment for 5 years. Three decades later, the palace’s grandeur diminished, as it was merely used as storage of the Bureau of the Royal Household. It is a very fascinating place to see and a great opportunity to learn more about the former residences of the royal leaders before. Vimanmek Mansion is a must-see for anyone coming for a vacation in Thailand.

It wasn’t until 1982 when Queen Sirikit obtained the approval of King Rama IX to refurbish the palace and make it a museum containing King Rama V’s artifacts and pictures, to promote

Thai culture among Thais and foreign tourists. It became famous ever since, and is frequented by travelers to admire its biggest golden teakwood in the world.

Visitors have a dress-code. It must be modest and nothing too casual. Phones and cameras must be left in the locker.

If you want a more educational vacation in Thailand, we can arrange a good tour package.
